B I O S (Basic Input Output System) Settings

The Bios program is the program a standard controller plugged into the motherboard. The program is stored in the IC chip called ROM (Read Only Memory) and always worked to control the hardware components installed on the motherboard even if the computer is not used (turned off). This is made possible by a small battery mounted on the motherboard. People often refer to this IC chip as ROM BIOS. When finished assembling the computer, this program should be set according t the types of electronic equipment that will be connected to the motherboard. Further more, each time the BIOS program will always control the hard ware instaled even if you turn off your computer. Control every time it allows the  computer is always ready when you turn on the computer. In the small battery is weak, usually setting in the BIOS program is lost, so that you are difficult to use a computer. You have to go back to reset the BIOS program like you did at the time of assembling a computer.

ROM BIOS consists of several kinds, among others:
  • AMI BIOS ROM
  • ROM ISA BIOS
  • MR BIOS ROM
  • ROM BIOS WIN
  • etc.
Usually to enter the BIOS setup mode, such as CMOS BIOS, AMI BIOS as well assome other bios mode, then when the computer was first switched on we can press del button.
For the IBM BIOS setup mode we have to press F1 or F10, while for the BIOS Setup main board with Intel's existing chip that uses the F2 key, while for the old Compaqmachine setup mode, the user must first enter its BIOS setup diskette, in order to apply the settings desired.

  • Safe mode, fiddling with the PC BIOS Settings
If Windows is the friendly face that displayed projects to the world's computers, the BIOS is the dark side of the subconscious in charge to think. BIOS (Basic Input /Output System) is a code for the fundamental functions of a PC, such as collectingbeats from a keyboard button or put pixel to screen.
This small program works behind the scenes, translating the Windows command thatpeople be zero-friendly and one that is only understood by your hardware. And as the human subconscious, the BIOS can be very strong influence on the behavior andperformance of your PC.

1. Update BIOS

As new technologies emerge and old bugs are found, computer makers often issuethat has been updated BIOS version which can solve problems and improveperformance. Check the Web site PC makers about the latest updates. But first make sure you have the latest BIOS version number; usually appears briefly on your monitorright after you turn on the system.
Updating the BIOS is easy, but you must do so with caution. Usually you need to run asmall program from a floppy disk only. But when problems occur, you can only lament the motherboard that can no longer use. So make sure that you have read all the instructions in the read me file BIOS updates, and always do exactly what the clueswere saying.

2. Utility Setup

If the BIOS is subconscious PC, the Setup utility is the foundation for building characterPC. The utility has a user settings to control the hard disk, memory, graphics cards, power saving, USB ports, and other hardware. The program is usually included in thedisk, but are now already stored in the same chip with the BIOS ROM PC.
Because the Setup utility created by the BIOS maker and be in the same chip with the BIOS, it is often called the BIOS Setup utility. And since this utility to save the settings under the chip clock / calendar - chip complementary metal-oxide semiconductor, or CMOS - then often referred to as the CMOS Setup program. (CMOS chip has its ownbattery to maintain settings even when the PC chip is turned off.)
The Setup utility has an abundance of hardware settings, ranging from the obvious, likesetting the clock time on a PC, up to the invisible, like the amount of "wait states" thatcoordinate the flow of data between RAM and CPU.

3. Technical BIOS Setup

First thing you should remember before doing the BIOS setup is not to destroy.
When working with PC Setup utility, use the same rule of thumb taught in early brainsurgery: "If you do not know what you're doing, then it is better not to deal with it".Carelessness change wait state or other settings can degrade performance or evencause system crashes.
If you think you've accidentally changing settings while working with the Setup utility, immediately stop and start from scratch again. All Setup utility has a menu option thatlets you exit without saving changes. You may see also the option to restore settingsto default values. Ignore this option: If your PC vendor has been doing fine-tune the system, the creator of the BIOS default settings may make it not optimal.
Backup your settings before making changes. When the battery feed chip clock /calendar to death, the settings you die with him. When the Setup utility you have a backup option, use it. If not, record the settings in the paper - or press the PrintScreen key to each screen in these utilities (but this does not always work).
